Me, the Moon Child

In astrology, the zodiac sign Cancer (my zodiac sign) is ruled by the Moon, which makes me the ultimate "moon child". 

A moon child is sensitive, intuitive, and deeply emotional—like the tides pulled by the moon. Their moods can ebb and flow, just like lunar phases. One minute, they have cozy, nurturing energy… the next, they retreat into a shell to recharge. They often hold ancient wisdom in their hearts. The Moon gives Cancer that strong connection to home, family, and their inner world. Plus, they tend to feel things on a whole other level.

It must have been the moon child in me that made me endure the cold Thursday night and stay up late as we observed the lunar eclipse and witnessed the blood moon. I usually go to bed early since I get up early. But I will not miss the lunar eclipse. 

After setting up our telescope, we saw the partial eclipse and the total eclipse as seen in the pictures below: 

 
                                    


A lunar eclipse is like the Moon entering a deep shadow—mysterious, powerful, and transformative energy. It's the cosmic reset button for emotions and the subconscious. A total lunar eclipse is when the Moon turns this haunting, deep red or coppery color. It feels ancient and powerful, like something out of a legend.

During a lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow over the Moon. Symbolically, it’s a time when hidden truths surface, old emotional cycles close, and new ones begin. Things that were in the dark come to light. It’s a powerful moment for releasing, shedding layers, and stepping into something new. Moon Children especially feel this on a soul-deep level. It is emotional, intense, maybe even a little chaotic, but ultimately cleansing.

Some say Moon Children are old souls who listen more to energy than words. They’re often drawn to water (is that why I love rainy days?), night skies, and quiet places where they can just be.  

For family and friends, have you ever noticed or now realized how I know when something’s off without a word being spoken? Or when I am a bit "moody"? This is because I am being ruled by the Moon, which is a total lunar magic, and that's just me being a moon child. ^-^

Checkmate! Last year, after seeing our special chess board game, my nephew asked me if I knew how to play chess. I told him, "I think so, but it's been a while since I played. " So, we set up our chessboard and started playing.  At first, it was confusing because our chessboard was not the chessboard I was taught how to play chess.  It's a special chessboard, as you can see from the picture. It took time for us to get used to the chess pieces. But we have played so many times that we are now familiar with which is supposed to be the rook, knight, bishop, etc.  To my surprise, I sometimes won if I concentrated and anticipated his next move. But most of the time, he would win. Probably because I was too tired to focus, LOL! So when the time came that I couldn't protect "my king" anymore, with a big smile on his face, he would proudly say,  "Checkmate!"

Building Eeveelutions  Since I have a three-day weekend, I finally had the time to do one of my favorite things - building items.  This was a Christmas present that I asked for. You better be careful about what you wish for, or you will get it. I was thrilled to get it, and now the challenge is to build all of these - I love building things because it calms me down and keeps my brain working, which is healthy. I am also very detail-oriented.  I started last night with my favorite eeveelution, before Saturday movie night. To wrap up my 3-day weekend, I completed the rest of eevelutions. Here are the completed eeveelutions: Building Eevee and its evolutions was such an accomplishment. Overall, it was a very productive three-day weekend.
